Capacity Building of Teachers
The SSEIP recognizes the importance of improving the capacity of teachers in core subjects at the secondary school level. To achieve this goal, the project has introduced a comprehensive teacher training and mentorship program. This program focuses on enhancing the teaching of English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics in selected schools managed by the School Education & Literacy Department (SELD) and the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF). The program includes several key components:
- Assessment of teacher availability and training needs
- Development of tailored teacher training modules
- Classroom training and in-class mentoring from subject specialist master trainers
- Provision of laboratory equipment to some existing secondary schools
Over 2,630 teachers will benefit from this program, which will be delivered by the private sector under contract to the SELD and SEF. The program incorporates gender-sensitive strategies, including non-gender biased lesson materials and gender-neutral language, to ensure a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students. The implementation of this component will be managed by Maxwell Stamp Limited.
